Committees & Volunteer Opportunities

Big “I” Nebraska thrives because members step forward to serve. Committees and volunteer groups help guide programs, strengthen advocacy efforts, and support the independent agency system across our state.

Dozens of members volunteer their time each year to serve on committees and leadership groups that support Big “I” Nebraska.

Meet virtually 4-5 times each year to help design, promote, deliver and IIAN’s Annual Convention, held in various locations across the state.  Collaborate with peers to create engaging sessions, networking opportunities, and events that support professional growth and strengthen Nebraska’s independent insurance community.

Committee Chairperson: Megan Faller MFaller@cornerstoneconnect.com

A group formed to provide input and support IIABA’s National Crop Insurance Task Force and Capitol Hill staff in advocating for the interests of agents in the Federal Crop Insurance program.  Meets 2-3 times each year.

Task Force Chairperson: Todd Anderson, cropguy@windstream.net

Meets quarterly to monitor use of IIAN/NASC funds, and recommend financial plans and policies to the Board of Directors.

Committee Chairperson: Kelly Brink, Kelly.Brink@dodgepartners.com

The InsurTech Committee helps Big “I” Nebraska stay engaged with emerging technology and innovation shaping the future of the insurance industry. Through a partnership with 101 Weston Labs—an InsurTech accelerator focused on solutions for independent agents—the committee supports startup companies developing new tools and technology designed to improve the insurance marketplace.

Committee Chairperson: Zak Morken, zjmorken@aiainsures.com

Meets regularly, especially when the Nebraska Unicameral is in session, to plan IIAN’s legislative activity and participate in the legislative process through grassroots advocacy and testimony. The committee helps organize events such as Day at the Capitol and the Senators’ Luncheon, represents IIAN members’ interests with the Nebraska Insurance Department and other state leaders, and keeps members informed of legislative developments affecting independent insurance agents. Members also participate in the IIABA National Legislative Conference.

Committee Chairperson:  Dan Wurm, dwurm@unicogroup.com

Supports the legislative priorities of Nebraska’s independent insurance agents by strengthening IIAN’s political action committee efforts at both the state (IIANPAC) and national (InsurPac) levels. The committee encourages member participation, promotes fundraising efforts, and helps build relationships with elected officials who understand and support the independent agency system.

IIAN/InsurPac Co-Chairs:
Vince Christensen, vchristensen@christenseninsurance.com
Bob Hoppe, bob@ahia.com
